Why should I hire Ottawa Movers?

Which moving services do you offer?
We offer residential moving services, commercial moving services (office moving service and business relocation services), long-distance moving services as well as labour only services and packing and unpacking services.
How big are your moving trucks?
Our truck fleet come in many different sizes complying for every type of move. We offer small 16-foot trucks to medium-sized 22-foot trucks, all the way to 26-foot trucks.
How far ahead should I book my move?
The sooner the better, as you’ll have exactly the availability you want, especially if you’re moving during peak season. Ottawa Movers recommends at least 1 month notice when moving locally. For long distance moving, we recommend 6 weeks. However, we are flexible and can accept after the recommendation bookings or same day bookings under certain conditions.
Which days of the week are best to move?
Sunday are the best day since there is less traffic. Fridays and Saturdays are usually the busiest days resulting in competition for elevator access, which can cause delays. The last day and the first day of the month are also high in demand, as well as peak season so if you’re flexible try not to move during that time.
Will bad weather affect my move?
Although bad weather such as a snowstorm can lead to delays and congestion, your move won’t be canceled if it snows, as long as the city doesn’t issues a travel/weather warning.
Pricing
How much does it cost to hire movers?
The quote is based on your inventory, the distance traveled and the complexity of the move. Other factors such as the size of the furniture, the number of large items and the degree of fragility all affect the cost of the move. The estimate provided by your moving consultant is the final price as long as your inventory remains the same. If your inventory changes, the price will be changed in advance – ensuring no hidden costs.
What is included in the moving quote?
The moving quote that we provide you depends on the elements you require. Our moving quotes automatically include the movers, the truck, the moving supplies, disassembling and assembling the furniture, the fuel and transportation costs.
You can also get extra options such as packing and unpacking services, moving boxes, special heavy items (e.g.: a piano), an extra stop or junk removal.
Are there any hidden fees I should know about?
No hidden fees. With the information you give us, the estimated cost we communicate to you is what you will pay at the end of your move.
Just make sure to communicate with us all aspects of your move. Don’t underestimate or non disclose any relevant information that could influence the moving estimate quote.
For example an oddly shaped item, a residence that isn’t easily accessible by large moving trucks,
high-rise condo that have lift and load restrictions, loads that require hand-carrying over certain distances or if you need to store some of the items in another location.

Preparing
What should I not pack in the boxes?
It’s not a good idea to pack perishable, dangerous, or hazardous items in your home goods. Even seemingly harmless items like nail polish remover or paint or automotive maintenance products can be a liability issue if something goes wrong. Make sure you know what items are on the list of hazardous materials.
What can I do to help the movers?
If you are moving from or to a building with an elevator, you can reserve that elevator ahead. Insuring time is not waisted calling and waiting for the elevator.
If you decide to pack yourself, you can also allocate heavy items (e.g.: books) in different boxes instead of the same.
Moving with kids?
Stay positive! Make it a game and involve them in the packing process. Even if it will be a little longer, it will help them better transition.
Before the move, ask the children to think of old toys and/or clothes they can donate to charity. This will also help you declutter.
You can also keep some of they favourite toys, books, snacks or their beloved stuffed animal with you ahead of them move.
